John Travolta, 67, has always been a proud dad, but especially in the last year since his late wife Kelly Preston passed away to cancer, John has proven himself to be a true family man who's always there for his two children Ella Bleu Travolta and Benjamin Travolta.

As well as spending Christmas together and sharing sweet moments with his children, John recently confirmed that he even got his son a pet cat! Posting to Instagram, John showed off the gorgeous fluffy white cat named Crystal in an adorable photo alongside him and Ben. It's every kid's dream to have a pet, and we're sure that while still grieving his mother's death, a pet cat will be a nurturing thing for the 10-year-old to have beside him.

But it seems Crystal isn't the only family pet in the Travolta household. Around the new year, John shared a photo and video of himself with a small black-and-brown dog named Jinx. The images were too adorable, especially with John donning a tuxedo while holding Jinx, who was busy licking ice cream from a plate. Ella sat beside John and laughed at the sweet moment.

Another sweet family moment took place in a Super Bowl commercial for Scotts Miracle-Gro, in which John and Ella recreated one of the famous dance scenes John had in the movie "Grease." Seeing the father and daughter dancing together was heartwarming, as they looked to be having a lot of fun. Despite the heavy year the Travolta family had in 2020, they all seem to be slowly moving forward in their lives.

On March 13 John Travolta posted to Instagram with some warm news from his family — they'd adopted a pet cat, or specifically his youngest child, Benjamin Travolta had a new cat. Named Crystal, the gorgeous fluffy white cat was revealed in a heartwarming photo that featured John, Ben, and the feline. Captioning the post, John wrote a simple introduction, "Ben's new cat Crystal." Crystal appeared to be family-approved, with John's daughter Ella Bleu Travolta commenting on the post with three hearts.

Crystal joins another pet in the Travolta household, an adorable small black-and-brown dog named Jinx. John first introduced Jinx in a hilarious new year's video. Seated at a dinner table and donning a dapper tuxedo, John is holding Jinx, who is eagerly lapping up ice cream from a bowl on the table. John says to the camera:

"Everybody this is Jinx. And happy new year to you...and to Jinx."

Sitting beside him is his daughter Ella, who lets out a laugh at her dad's message. John followed up Jinx's introduction with a photo a few weeks later, in which he's cradling Jinx almost like a little baby.

The Travolta family went through a lot in 2020 with the death of their matriarch, the actress Kelly Preston. The family has been grieving but slowly and steadily they've been showing that they're moving on in life, with Preston's memory firmly in their minds. As they move forward, having a couple of pets around the house is a lovely way for them to bring new energy in.

Preston passed away on July 12, 2020, following a two-year “courageous fight” against breast cancer, which she kept away from the public. Her death was announced by John on Instagram, who wrote:

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.  My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered."

He went on to say that he'd be taking time off to be there for Ella and Ben as they all mourned Preston's passing. At the time Ella shared her own post honoring her mom. Accompanying a beautiful photo of Preston, Ella wrote

"I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful and loving as you. Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy. Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama."

While the family had the support of the public and other celebrities, it was only natural that they would want to grieve in private. However, they've each opened up a little more through their Instagram posts, including sharing sweet memories of Preston, and it's been wonderful to see them move on from their loss while keeping her spirit alive.

Preston, who was 57 at the time of her death, was a well-known actress, starring in such movies as "Jerry Maguire," "Twins," and "For the Love of the Game." In fact, she'd met her future husband John on the set of their 1987 film "The Experts." Although Preston was married to someone else, she said in a 2018 interview she "was really with the wrong person" at the time. But soon enough Preston and John married in 1991 and had babies on their minds.

The couple had welcomed three children in total — 20-year-old daughter Ella Bleu, 10-year-old Benjamin, and a son named Jett who passed away in 2009 at the age of 16 in a tragic accident where he had a seizure and hit his head on the bathtub. While the family was grieving Jett's death, the couple had Ben, which they later described as bringing them closer. John told "Good Morning America" in a 2016 interview:

"We certainly have bonded together. And certainly, having little Ben has been a beautiful kind of glue for us to re-bond after tremendous loss."

Unfortunately, it would be just over one decade before they'd lose another family member, this time the matriarch of their family to cancer.

After posting less on social media in the latter half of 2020, the Travoltas have slowly begun to share more with their fans via their personal Instagram accounts, whether that's family pets or holiday wishes. In February John and Ella even starred in a Super Bowl commercial together for Scotts Miracle-Gro, alongside a number of other celebrities. In their bit, John and Ella are seen outside in a garden before dancing together in a recreation of one of John's iconic moments from the movie "Grease" — the hand jive scene from the school dance.

Right after they appear, Martha Stewart quips, "He's still got it." Ain't that the truth! The fun ad shows John and Ella having fun and it's lovely to see. Ella posted the ad to her Instagram page as well and commented:

"Let's hear it for the dad's who've still got it.🕺🏻It was fun dancing in the yard with @johntravolta."

But it's not the only father-daughter dancing video that the Travoltas have shared of late. In August 2020, John shared a video of him and Ella dancing in honor of Preston. Set to soft piano music in a moody-looking bar, the pair were doing an impromptu ballroom dance. John explained why they were dancing in the caption:

"My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma. One of Kelly’s favorite things, dancing with me."

It's also not the first time John or Ella have honored Preston on social media — in fact, they frequently share memories of her or honor her during holidays.

In October 2020, both John and Ella shared moving birthday posts for Preston. John posted a photo of him and his late wife on their wedding day alongside his own parents at their wedding. He captioned the moving post with words directed to Preston:

"Happy Birthday hon! I found this photo of my mom and dad‘s wedding. It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John."

Meanwhile, Ella's post for her late mom's birthday included a photo of the two of them from when she was a toddler, in which Preston is laughing beautifully while holding her. She captioned it with a simple "Happy Birthday Mama, I love you so much❤️❤️❤️"

Over Christmas, both John and Ella also shared warm holiday wishes to their followers. John's included a sweet video of Ella and Ben wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, while Ella's video included a heartfelt message to her followers. Although they didn't name Preston in these videos, it was clear that they were extending the holiday spirit to all families out there.

Despite the tragedies the Travolta family has endured, both in the last year and over a decade ago when Jett passed away, John, Ella, and Benjamin all appear very close, and that is clear to see from the little glimpses they offer the world via their social media accounts. We can't imagine that the tributes to Preston will slow down anytime soon either, as the Travoltas are doing an incredible job of keeping her spirit alive. To see John's commitment to his children now that his wife has passed is truly admirable.
