Matt Damon Goes Full Disney Dad for Daughter Gia’s 18th Birthday at Disneyland

Matt Damon has a non-negotiable rule about family dinner. He got a "real dad teary moment" at the "Odyssey" premiere looking at his four daughters. And on August 20, 2026 — the day before Disneyland's Halloween Time officially began — he showed up to Disneyland in a matching "birthday crew" T-shirt to celebrate his daughter Gia turning 18.

Damon, born Oct. 8, 1970, arrived at Disneyland in Anaheim with his wife Luciana Barroso and all four daughters: Alexia, 27, Isabella, 20, Gia, 18, and Stella, 15. The family wore coordinated custom T-shirts. Gia's shirt featured an outline of Sleeping Beauty Castle with Mickey Mouse ears and the words "birthday girl." Damon's, Luciana's, and the sisters' shirts all read "birthday crew." He paired his with white trousers, white shoes, a baseball cap, and brown-tinted shades.

The family posed in front of the giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin that had just been installed on Main Street, U.S.A. — one day before the park's Halloween season officially kicked off. A Disneyland representative confirmed that the family "wanted to begin the spooky season a little early" before continuing "their fun-filled day celebrating his daughter's birthday" elsewhere in the park.

But the Damon sighting that circulated most widely that day did not come from the official Disneyland photographs. Comedian Loryn Powell posted a video to Instagram showing her daughter meeting Goofy at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel — and in the background, arms crossed, smiling warmly as he watched the little girl's delight, was Matt Damon.

He did not announce himself. He just watched. Powell's caption made the rounds immediately: "POV you're watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time but don't realize Matt Damon is also watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time."

The Goofy video accumulated thousands of views within hours. Comments split between Powell's own joke — "when your daughter is more starstruck by Goofy than Matt Damon" — and responses noting how genuinely warm his expression was as he watched the little girl's delight unfold. The baseball cap he wore appeared to bear the name of his production company, Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Ben Affleck in 2022. Some commenters questioned whether it was actually him; others pointed to the cap as confirmation.

The Disneyland outing came fresh off a summer that has involved considerable public family moments for Damon. There was the "Odyssey" London premiere in July, where all four daughters attended and he described a teary dad moment looking at them. There was the Betsy the pit bull date for The Dodo. There was the interview about family dinners and the daughter who pointed out that showing up was not the same as being present. Now this: a birthday crew T-shirt and a day at the Happiest Place on Earth, one day before the pumpkins were officially allowed.

Gia turned 18 on August 20. Damon is 55. He once said of his family that "everything is full; it's just full all the time." Standing in front of a Mickey Mouse pumpkin with four daughters in matching shirts — the oldest 27, the youngest 15 — the fullness of it was visible from every angle.

Damon's daughters have been leaving home in stages. Two are already out. Two are still in. He goes to Disneyland in a matching shirt. He watches strangers' children meet Goofy from a comfortable distance, smiling with his arms crossed. That, distilled, is the full picture.
