Massive Dog Has To Be Rescued From Mountain After Getting Too Exhausted To Walk Down

Hiking is a fun activity, but some people aren't always physically up to the challenge of scaling tall mountains. This is also the case when it comes to huge dog breeds such as Mastiffs. These large lovable pets are up for some outdoor fun, but they don't have quite as much athleticism as their more leaner cousins.

For most people, you need to take caution climbing a mountain if you aren't sure you can complete the ordeal. There isn't always someone around to carry you if you get exhausted. One dog was lucky enough to beat the odds under these circumstances. A dog named Floyd was hiking up the Grandeur Peak trail with his owner near Salt Lake City on a pleasant weekend. However, the 200-pound dog reached the top of the mountain, he was too tired to make the return trip down.

The dog's owner felt that he had no choice but to call a search and rescue team to get his dog back home. The Salt Lake County Search and Rescue team was more than willing to lend a hand, given that they would have a chance to help out such a nice dog.

The rescue team commented on Facebook that several people had called in to report a man and a dog who seemed unable to move. The rescue personnel acted quickly to make sure that Floyd and his owner could be brought safely down before the weather turned too cold. When they placed Floyd into a litter and carried him down the trail, the dog was very cooperative.

The video of the rescue is quite amusing as the large dog seems to be enjoying this royal treatment. It seemed as if this could become his preferred method of travel from now on. It's not known if Floyd got a nice treat when he got home, but it seems appropriate for the occasion.

A woman claimed that Floyd's owner said he was willing to sleep at the top of the mountain with the dog overnight to make sure he survived the cold night. Amy Sandoval who said Floyd is her brother's dog commented on the Facebook post. She said they took a wrong turn and it became difficult for them to get back on trail. Once they did, Floyd was tired.
