Mary Duggar, Grandma On TLC's 'Counting On,' Passes Away At 78

Mary Duggar, the matriarch of a huge clan of Duggars has passed away on Sunday at the age of 78, reports TMZ.

Mary is survived by her daughter Deanna, and son Jim Bob, as well as 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The family announced the passing on their official Facebook account.

The Duggar family was featured on a series of TLC television shows, known for their large number of kids and their Christian values. The Facebook post recognized that Mary was on the show too. It read, “Grandma Mary Duggar has been on the TLC shows, ‘19 Kids & Counting’ and ‘Counting On’ with her family for over 15 years.”

According to the Facebook post, Mary Duggar was a successful real estate broker in Northwest Arkansas and owned her own realty business. She was married to Jimmy Lee Duggar, who died in 2009, for almost 50 years. She was also a devout Christian who committed her life to her religion at the age of 15.

The post reads that “She lived a tremendous life as a follower of Christ, a wife, a devoted mother, a loving mother-in-law, and a much-loved grandmother,” and goes on to conclude, “We deeply appreciate your prayers for our family and all who loved Mary during this time.”
