The post proved to be a hit with Gibbs’ fans, as it garnered over 21,000 likes and thousands of comments less than 12 hours since its upload. Many of her followers took to the comment section to wish the star a happy birthday.

“Happy blessed birthday beautiful,” wrote one fan. “Enjoy & may you be blessed with many more.”

"Happy Birthday, Queen!” wrote another. “We love you! ❤️”

Gibbs first started acting in the ’70s, having appeared in a number of films such as Sweet Jesus, Preacher Man, and Black Belt Jones.

The actor, however, established herself as a household name starring as Florence Johnston in the American sitcom, The Jeffersons, which ran for a decade until 1985. Speaking to the Washington Post in 2015, Gibbs revealed that her character was initially only meant to be featured as a guest in one episode.

“It was supposed to be a one-time guest appearance,” she said. “So I was very blessed that it turned into 11 seasons and a show for me.”

In a separate interview with Closer Weekly, the sitcom star looked back at how the show changed her life.

“[The Jeffersons] brought me a lot of love that was missing in my life,” Gibbs said. “People still tell me ‘I love you,’ and big, grown men will say, ‘I gotta have a hug, Ms. Gibbs’ — and I’ll hug them!”

Her role had her receive a widespread appraisal for her talent, including five Primetime Emmy Award nominations in the category for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

After the Jeffersons ended, Gibbs went on to star in another classic sitcom, 227 alongside Jackée Harry. The actor has since made guest appearances in many more TV classics such as Martin, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Dawson’s Creek, Touched by an Angel, and The King of Queens.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Gibbs was cast as a guest star on One Day at a Time. According to Variety, the 89-year-old was set to star in the Holloween special, One Halloween at a Time, alongside Reggie Watts. The two were to portray Mr. Mann and Mrs. Jones, Elena, and Syd’s new neighbors whom they visit as they go trick-or-treating.
