Mark Wahlberg isn't only amazing as an actor, but he's also a big family man as well. In fact, he is willing to do anything for his family.

He began his career as rapper Marky-Mark, and he starred as the frontman for his band, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. Soon after, he began his career as an award-winning actor. He's best known for his roles in the "Transformer" series, as well as "Ted" and "The Other Guys." Wahlberg has also served as a producer for five different series for HBO

With several different Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations under his belt, the American actor has plenty to be proud of. But there's one area of his life that he is most proud of — his family.

In 2009, Wahlberg married his wife, Rhea Durham. Durham is an accomplished model and has been on the cover of French Vogue and Marie Claire. She even walked the runway in the 2000 and 2001 Victoria's Secret fashion shows. Together, the couple has four kids: Ella Rae, 19; Michael, 16; Brendan, 14; and Grace Margaret, 13.

Over the years, Wahlberg has been outspoken about his love for his kids. He often shares hilarious stories and anecdotes about them in interviews and on social media. It's clear Wahlberg isn't afraid of making big decisions for the sake of his family. He once said:

"My mission in life is to raise my kids right. With all the success I've had in the world, if I fail at that, my life means nothing."

In 2020, Wahlberg made a bold decision to protect the innocence and childhood of her daughter, Grace, who was attending a school dance back then. His move was lauded by other parents at the event and by many on social media.

During Wahlberg's career in entertainment, he has been nominated for several Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Primetime Emmy Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Wahlberg was born on June 5, 1971, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was born into a large family, and he grew up as the youngest child of nine brothers and sisters. Wahlberg's older brother, Donnie Wahlberg, became a part of the famous boy band New Kids on the Block, and Mark Wahlberg joined the band at age 13.

With a father as successful as him, many would expect his kids to tell everyone about their father. But Wahlberg is quick to set the record straight that, in fact, the opposite is true.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Wahlberg said that he sometimes has to watch his kids' sports games from the car. He said that his kids often don't allow him to be seen with them around their friends.

"Me being in the public eye, there are pros to that, but there's a lot of cons," he said.

"My kids wanna have their own identity, you know? I'm not allowed to get out of the car at football practice or a game. I gotta sit in the car and watch."

Wahlberg said that though he was upset at first, he wanted to do whatever he could to make his children happy.

"At first I took it personally, because I wanna be there to support them, but supporting them is by making them feel comfortable in what they're doing and them having their own identity too," he said. "It's very difficult."

He said that it's important to him that his children can have a normal life, and he wants to protect them from the dangers of the entertainment world while he can.

Being a protective father is something that Wahlberg has been excellent at. From keeping them away from paparazzi to protecting them from explicit thoughts – he has done it all.

In an encounter in 2020, Wahlberg recalled in an interview at the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" an instance when he attended a school dance with his daughter Grace, but her daughter refused to dance with him because she was scared to be embarrassed.

"I didn't get one dance," he recalled. "And she said 'Dad, if you embarrass me, I will never talk to you again.'"

But the school dance was memorable for Grace and Wahlberg as they hung out on the stage by the DJ. However, when they were there, protectiveness on Wahlberg kicked in as he overheard the music blasting on the stereo containing expletives not appropriate for the children.

"I'm like, this is not the edited version of this song. There are explicit lyrics being played at a school dance, for girls, and like, no good," he exclaimed

He recalled confronting the DJ and asking why he heard "F-bombs" on the music, which prompted the DJ to switch the songs. After the encounter, Wahlberg and his daughter still had a blast, despite them not dancing together.

Wahlberg's bold move to confront the DJ was lauded by many on social media – thanking him for doing what was right!

"I went off on an entire school system when they thought they could get away with playing explicit lyrics at my granddaughter's Elementary school. Well done, sir," a fan posted

"Nice to see a dad who demands respect for not only his child but for others as well. World would be a better place if we all watched what was spoken or done around innocent little minds," another commented
