The brave Marines in this video are just on the verge of graduating from Parris Island. They've been given just a few more minutes with the drill instructor. Instead of repeating the same tired drills over and over gain, their instructor thought it was time for a new drill: the Monkey Drill.

This exercise is entirely improvised and shows what dedication the Marines have to their craft. They're completely comfortable with their weapons, strong, and able to work with precision. Plus, they still have a sense of humor. The drill instructor made the choice to share footage of the marching platoon online, and it's quickly gone viral.

Civilians love being able to see what happens inside the military!

Drill instructor Sergeant Justin Wagner was the one to post the video. Along with the footage, he explained that the Marines were able to have a little fun during their graduation week. Because there were a few extra minutes, their instructor taught them the drill completely improvised.

The Marine Corps Drill and Ceremonies Manual has specific coding stating that a trick drill can be taught to the platoon after they've become masters at all the other standard types of drill movement. After the Marines learned their final and initial drills, Sargent Wagner believed they truly had what it took to make the Monkey Drill work!

True to the sergeant's expectations, the newly graduated Marines were able to nail every tradition, courtesy, and custom that had been passed down over the decades of practice. The video seems to indicate that every Marine in this platoon is prepared for a long and proud career within the U.S. Armed Forces. The courageous men and women of the Marines sacrifice so much to protect their country, and it's good to see that they sometimes get the chance for a more lighthearted turn.
