Members of the United States military are true heroes. When tyranny rears its ugly head, you can bet that our brave men and women will be there to protect the innocent and keep the world safe for liberty. Because of this, our service members deserve every honor accorded to them, especially when they leave this life.

Too often one hears about veterans who go unmourned and unhonored, whether it be because they have no family or are homeless on the streets. A group of bikers in Tampa, Florida recently gave a deceased veteran the funeral he deserved after hearing that he had no one to mourn him properly.

Robert Krause served his country in the 1950s as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Tragically, when Krause passed, no one was there to claim his body or make sure he got a proper funeral. Upon hearing about the heartbreaking situation, David Allen of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association knew that he had to help, reports Fox.

Allen had recently heard alarming statistics that dozens of indigent service members are laid to rest each year without the honors due to them. Allen convinced other members of his motorcycle club that they needed to help honor Krause and make sure that his country thanked him for his service.

Nick Morales, a fellow member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and a veteran of both the United States Army and the Marine Corps, was also adamant that the group honor Krause. Speaking with reporters, Morales says that veterans die twice: once when they leave the battlefield and again when people stop saying their name. Morales believes that his current mission is to make sure that deceased veterans are remembered by the living.

Allen and Morales led a group of their fellow bikers to the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital to claim Krause’s body. Escorting Krause from the hospital to Florida National Cemetery, the bikers played taps on a bugle as they saluted their fallen comrade. After news of their tribute to Krause went viral, Allen and Morales say that going forward, they would make sure that all veterans in the Tampa area are given a proper sendoff. The two feel an unshakeable bond with those who served that continues long after that service has ended.

What do you think of the way the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association gave veteran Robert Krause a proper military funeral? Do you think that more should be done to help veterans?
