Marine Kidnapped As A Newborn Reunited With FBI Agent Who Rescued Him From Dumpster 22 Years Ago

On August 23, 1997, an FBI agent discovered a newborn in a dumpster in Tacoma, Washington. The baby would grow up to become a marine named Stewart Rembert. Just two days after his birth, Rembert was kidnapped from the hospital by a woman who entered Rembert's mother's room in a white lab coat, posing as a doctor.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, the new mom agreed to let the alleged physician take her baby so she could get some much-needed sleep, but then the baby disappeared. For 19 hours, local law enforcement frantically searched for the woman and the newborn. The woman was arrested later that day and told the FBI agent Tony Sowers where she had abandoned the baby.
Without Sowers' determination and quick response, Stewart Rembert may have never made it out of that dumpster. The newborn was returned unharmed to his parents and grew up to join the Marines, where he is now referred to as Corporal Rembert.

At Tony Sowers' retirement party from the FBI, a special guest turned up that the agent didn't expect to see: a young man who he had once held in his arms, 22 years ago. Sowers told WBRI-TV that he expected something simple as he quietly retired from the service, nothing more than coffee, donuts and sharing some memories with his colleagues. When Corporal Rembert entered the room, he was floored.
"This wouldn't have happened if you didn't find me,” Rembert said to Sowers, according to WBIR-TV. “I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity of a life and being able to put on this uniform every day and be proud of what I do."
Sowers was touched by the incredible send-off. He described it as a "fascinating story," and expressed his amazement at the fact a baby he once retrieved from a trash bin is now an adult proudly serving his country.
