Marie Osmond is a solo music artist best known for her country-pop hit "Paper Roses." Her mother originally encouraged her to record her own album, and both the album and lead single went gold. "Paper Roses" also reached number one on the country music charts and number 5 on Billboard's pop music list. The song "In My Little Corner of the World" made it into the top 40 on the country charts.
More recently, Osmond showed off her dancing skills as a celebrity contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," where she placed third alongside her dance partner, Jonathan Roberts. The singer hasn’t given up on her music career, however. In 2021, Osmond, who is now in her 60s, came out with her 11th studio album titled “Unexpected.”
"This album was a scary project," Osmond said of the operatic record, which features the Prague Symphony Orchestra. "But I've never been one who's been afraid to take chances. I learned a long time ago that if something isn't working or something isn't making you happy, you need to close that door and not be afraid of a new door opening. That's the key."
Beyond her work in the music industry and on TV, Osmond has made headlines for her stunning weight loss transformation 14 years ago, especially since the star has kept off the 50 pounds she has lost.
For those of us still on our weight loss journeys, Osmond also provided some tips in recent interviews with First For Women and the Daily Mail.
“I’ve tried every fad diet out there, they don't work. If you starve yourself, you're going to mess up your metabolism,” Osmond told the Mail in January 2022.

Osmond told the publication that she began to gain weight following the death of her mother in 2004.
“After the death of my mother (Olive in 2004), I gained weight and it was affecting my health. I knew I needed to make a change, did my research and chose Nutrisystem because I believed it could work for me. And it did,” Osmond explained.
Osmond stumbled upon Nutrisystem after years of experimenting with different diets.
“(Nutrisystem) helped me to have a healthier relationship with food and taught me how to be healthy. And as a result, I have kept the weight off for 14 years,” Osmond said.
The singer says the program — which has dieters stick to a meal plan of prepackaged food — is “easy” and “done for you.”
“Nutrisystem is a commercial weight-loss diet that involves following a meal plan made up of the company’s prepackaged and portioned meals and snacks, including frozen and shelf-stable options delivered to you, complemented with some vegetables and other grocery additions you shop for yourself. By outsourcing meal-management chores, you won’t have to think about portion control, meal prep or meal timing, but you may tire of heat-and-eat meals and smallish portions,” US News writes in its overview of the diet.
Beyond singing the diet program’s praises, Osmond gave readers a few practical tips and tricks to keep weight off. For example, the star says that a “vision board” has helped her achieve her goals.
“I love making vision boards to focus on my goals,” Osmond told First For Women.

“You just glue together a bunch of images that represent things you’d like to do or achieve — like healthy habits, travel destinations, etc. The best part is that I’ll make a board and not even realize I’ve done everything on it until I look at it a year later.”
As far as exercise goes, Osmond says she is “all about easy and fun.”
“I took the power out of my power walk because it was not fun. Now I just walk,” Osmond told the Mail.
“I also do arm exercises and I use a shaker plate for my lymphatic system,” the singer added, referring to a machine that vibrates the body at low frequencies.
In the interview with the Daily Mail, Osmond also spoke to recent changes in her life, such as leaving the daytime show “The Talk.”
“When I was younger, I used to hate change. Oh my gosh. Anything that stopped or quit or changed made me oh so frustrated and I hated it beyond belief and I don't like anything to control me,” Osmond said of her departure.
“I like to control my life, probably because things that happened to me as a child and everything else. And so I decided I'm not going to let anything like that make my weather. And so I decided to embrace change and be positive about it. So I have no problems closing doors,” she continued.
As Osmond enters the new year, she says she already has a mantra: “play.”
“I want to play and have fun in every aspect of my life,” she explained.
