Julie Andrews Meets Maria von Trapp

Following The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews expanded her professional career. One such opportunity involved hosted a television show. In 1973, Maria von Trapp appeared on The Julie Andrews Hour.

A Fine Performance - Except

As the two began their conversation on the show, Andrews asked her subject the one question any good actress would: "How was I?" Overall, von Trapp had a glowing review of Andrew's performance except for one thing.

Except For What?

What could possibly be amiss about a performance from a household name like Julie Andrews? Yodeling. The singing in The Lonely Goatherd was lovely, but far from authentic sounding to von Trapp's native ear.

Authentic Australian Yodeling

After this revelation, von Trapp begins to yodel. She then motions for Andrews to sing with her. Apparently, Andrews is a quick study, and, after just a few bars of practice, the two sing a yodel-themed duet.
