Parenting is extremely hard. It's a full-time job itself but many people work a full-time job on top of it. Add things like sick family members, home repairs, a marriage, and life in general, it goes on and on. It can be very overwhelming and stressful some days.

Bernie Reifkind is a Recruitment Executive who witnessed this in one of his employees one day. His employee is a mother who was up the night before caring for her child who was sick.

At 7:45 AM, she was at her desk crying silently. Bernie went to her and asked if she was okay. She stated her child was at home sick and had been up all night. She had bags underneath her eyes.

Bernie then asked why she was in the office if she had been up all night. She ran out of her sick days and couldn’t afford taking a day off unpaid. Bernie sent her home with the promise that she would be paid. He even wrote her a check for the extra expenses she had to alleviate her financial worry.

She was so grateful for his gift. Bernie stated that she is one of his best employees because of her talent and loyalty. This story not only shows kindness but also makes employers aware of the struggles that their employees have outside of work. It shows how employees should be treated.

Bernie wrote about this experience on his LinkedIn page, he urged other employers to understand the stress many of their employees are carrying. He also asked employers to reassure their hardworking employees so they know that their jobs are secure.
