Man With Terminal Cancer Marries His True Love In Hospital Ceremony In Houston

A couple that has gone through a long line of difficult situations together had the chance to tie the knot and become one “until death do us part.” While the ceremony was very unconventional, it was exactly what Corey Cunningham and Tyyisha Evans wanted, to make their dreams come true.

The couple’s story began when Tyyisha, who is a 42-year-old mom and grandmother, discovered that she had breast cancer. With her boyfriend Corey at her side, Tyyisha worked hard to fight the cancer and, sure enough, managed to find that it was gone in October. Sadly, that wasn’t the last bump in the road for the couple.

In November, Corey got test results back that showed that he had brain cancer, reports the Houston Chronicle. Not only was it serious, but it was terminal. Just as Corey had stuck by her side through her breast cancer, Tyyisha was determined to stay with him until the end of the road.

Overwhelmed by his girlfriend’s commitment and determination to stay by his side through his hospital stays, Corey realized that his biggest dream was to make this wonderful woman his wife. Corey turned to one of the doctors to help him propose to Tyyisha. When he asked Tyyisha to be his wife, she was completely floored and overwhelmed with emotion. She explained that she thought that would be the very last thing on his mind at that point!

To make sure that they were able to tie the knot before the cancer overtook Corey, the hospital staff began working quickly. They hurried to the hospital’s chapel where they turned it into a wedding hall with added decorations, a cake, and a photographer.

The end result was stunning and beautiful, with the wedding being almost magical. While there wasn’t a big audience, the couple’s children and Tyyisha’s grandchild were all in attendance along with some of the hospital staff.

This wasn’t the first time that Corey had asked Tyyisha to marry him. In fact, according to the Houston Chronicle, since they began dating, he has popped the question four different times. Due to his work schedule and her own cancer diagnosis, Tyyisha turned him down.

But this time things were different. After spending so much time together in the hospital and knowing that time was running out, Tyyisha wanted to make their union complete. "I could feel through my entire body the love he has for me. I never felt it more today," Tyyisha told the Houston Chronicle.

We are so glad that this special couple had the opportunity to become husband and wife for the rest of their time together on earth. Invite your friends to read this story but warn them that their eyes are likely to water!
