Stephen Sage Silver was driving along a quiet back road near Lake Ming in Bakersfield, California when he encountered a horrible scene. A man was pushing at a large black dog, apparently trying to chase it away. However, the dog seemed to think it was a playful game and wouldn't leave its owner.

Silver was horrified to observe the man escalate to hitting the dog in the face, so he stopped and yelled at the man, demanding to know what was going on. The man became irate and yelled back. Then, suddenly, the man went back to his car.

As the man tried to re-enter his car, the dog tried desperately to get into the car. Finally, the man picked the dog up and threw the poor thing out into the road and sped away. Silver was horrified and called Kern County Animal Services for help. They took the dog to a shelter and hopefully someone will step up and adopt the lovely, friendly dog.

Silver had the presence of mind to record the entire incident and shared it online. According to Inside Edition, the man in the video later came forward and claimed that the dog was a stray and that he wouldn't leave him alone after he gave him some food.
