Man Wakes Up From 5-Year Coma To Find His Wife Didn't Abandon Him And Took Care Of Him Day And Night

True love is a wonderful thing to see. A resident of Hubei, China is one man who knows exactly what true love is. Back in 2013, the man was in a traffic accident which put him into a coma. Li Zhihua was in a vegetative state for more than five years, but he has finally come out of the coma. It may just be because of his loving wife who stood by his side the whole way.

The Daily Mail reported on this story after Chinese news outlets covered it. The man told his wife that he loved her as soon as he came out of his coma. We are betting that is because he knew deep down that she had remained by his side the entire time. Zhang Guihuan, who is 57-years-old, reportedly slept for about three hours a day during the time her husband was in a coma. When she wasn’t sleeping, she took care of her husband, single-handedly. She did not want to accept the probability of her loved one being a vegetable for the rest of his life. She was out to prove the doctors wrong.

Doctor Wan Qing’an explained his sad condition to reporters. He said that he was already in a vegetative state when he was brought in and wasn’t able to respond to anything or anyone. However, his loving wife wanted to show the doctors that they were wrong. She stayed by his bed the whole time he was in the coma, talking to him and playing all of his favorite songs. In doing so, this loving wife was able to nurse his body and mind back to health.

While Li was indeed in a vegetative state, it does appear as though he could be shown how to eat. His loving wife told reporters that she would carefully put food into his mouth when it was time for him to eat. She would then press down gently on his tongue to signal that he could chew. It seems as though all of her love and devotion wasn’t in vain at all since Li did eventually wake up after years in a coma. He is now in recovery programs to get back his energy and health.
