Brian Worster was ready to marry the love of his life. However, he almost missed the big day due to something unexpected.
Months before the wedding day, Brian was involved in a horrible car accident. He was driving his company truck when he got hit.
He woke up later, in a daze, laying in the hospital. He was overwhelmed and worried that the whole accident happened because of something he did.
Brian could barely bring himself to move his head, but his eyes opened wide and he immediately asked for a pen. He knew that if nothing else happened in his life, he had to leave his last words for his fiance.
Clinging to his life and barely conscious, Brian knew he wasn't going to pass away before he told his loved one exactly how he felt.
Before this moment, Lisa, Brian's fiance, was at home, waiting for him after he left work. She had no idea Brian was actually involved in an accident that left him unconscious and bleeding.
Hours passed and with several phone calls unanswered. At that moment, Lisa knew that something was wrong. She called her husband's coworker, Lela, and asked her if she knew where Brian might be.

It was then that Lela told Lisa about the company truck having been involved in an accident. While she wasn't sure that Brian was involved, both Lisa and Lela called around to various hospitals only to discover that Brian was now a patient at one of them.
Lisa immediately got in her car to race over and see for herself how her future husband was doing. While Lisa tried to get to the hospital, she was overwhelmed by the news.
Lela took over driving as they worked their way to Brian.
Lisa shared later that heading to the hospital after hearing the terrible news felt like a complete nightmare. Everything was a blur and she was totally overcome by the worst fears.
When the two women arrived at the hospital, they ran to the Neuro ICU. Lisa went into the room and was met with horror when she saw that her husband was on the operating table!
She felt completely alone as the nurse escorted her out. Then the doctor came to talk with her.
During the crash, Brian's skull was crushed and he was left with major damage to his orbital and facial bones. Additionally, he had spinal cord damage as well.
These fractures left his brain hemorrhaging endlessly, meaning the doctors needed to treat him with titanium implants with a VP shunt as a way to relieve any pressure on the brain.
At that moment, Lisa called Brian's mother. When the rest of the Worsters visited a day later, they were glad to see Brian becoming more responsive.
This is when he started penning the touching words that began this story.
Brian couldn't speak, but he begged for a paper and pen to start writing. He first asked if he was to blame for the accident.
Lisa didn't know any details of the accident, but she knew they would eventually become clear.
They soon found out that no other people were injured and that Brian wasn't at fault.
Brian's final written words on the note left everyone in tears. He scribbled down, "I love you", letting everyone know that it would all be okay.
While Brian had to stay in recovery at the ICU for a month, then the hospital for two more months, Lisa knew he was getting better. She drove to see Brian every afternoon and then stayed until the visiting hours ended.
Brian would joke that Lisa should get out every now and then and do other things, but Lisa knew there was nowhere else she'd rather be.
While visiting Brian every day was now part of Lisa's routine, she was glad to share the responsibility with five other people. There were even some furry friends around to keep Brian company throughout his time in recovery.
Brian became increasingly healthier and stronger as the months went by. When the wedding day came, Brian was well into his recovery.
As a gift for the Mother of the Groom, Brian and Lisa gave Brian's mother Marcie a bracelet inscribed with Brian's "I Love You" note from that day in the ICU.
At the wedding, the couple was surrounded by every person that had supported them during Brian's difficult recovery. Lisa shared that through all the good and bad that happened, she still stayed hopeful.
She was so happy to finally make it to her wedding day--the happiest day for both Brian and Lisa!
