When a special needs customer is verbally harassed at a restaurant, an unlikely hero steps to his defense. Watch it unfold.

Down syndrome is one of the nation's most common chromosomal conditions. In fact, 1 out of 700 babies are born with Down syndrome every year. And thanks to attitudes about disabilities and new support programs, current society is better equipped to serve disabled people than ever before. Unfortunately, as shown in the video, that's not always the case.

On this episode of "What Would You Do?", a downs man goes to order at a restaurant. His name is Peter, and he's a regular. He goes through the menu, trying to decide what to eat. He doesn't take long. Unfortunately, another patron observes his condition and begins to criticize him in front of the whole restaurant.

Peter cannot defend himself, and neither can the waitress without risking losing her job. Luckily, though, a third patron steps in. She's a grandmother who used to teach disabled kids, so the situation hits close to home. She angrily rebukes the closed-minded man and tells him to leave. Despite disliking confrontations, she stands up for the disabled very bravely.
