Man Ties Dog's Snout With Cable Wire - Is Let Off With A Light Sentence

A German shepherd in Australia recently suffered abuse when his owner tied his snout shut with a plastic cable tie. Chloe was the name of the poor dog who was left in the backyard of her owner's home for four hours in this dangerous state.

When a dog's muzzle is sealed shut, it is dangerous for the animal because they have no way to vent heat. Dogs regulate their temperature by panting, and they can't do that when their mouth is closed.

Luckily, neighbors saw the dog's distressed state and alerted the authorities. According to RSPCA Australia, The dog was rescued when responders came a few hours later. It's not known what motivated 48-year-old Mount Gambier to do this, but it shows very poor judgment and ignorance about the dangers of treating animals this way.

The dog has since been removed and sent to another home by authorities. Gambier was given a fine and banned from owning a pet for two years. His crime was classified as ill-treatment of an animal and neglect according to the codes of South Australian animal laws.

Gambier has been charged a fee of $1600 in veterinary and legal expenses that were related to treating the German shepherd.

The defense claimed that Gambier hadn't intended to leave the animal bound for that long, and he forgot to remove the cable tie before leaving for work. He said that he got distracted and forgot to tend to the animal. Luckily for Chloe, rescuers arrived just in time to save her from any lasting harm.

Chloe was given some water by kind bystanders after she was free from the cable tie, and she laid down to rest to recoup from the distressing event.
