Man Sees Lifeless Stray Pup And Starts Performing CPR Until He Is Breathing Again

Animal owners should learn basic first-aid techniques in case the need ever arises to help their pets. Luckily for one stray puppy in Rize, Turkey, a local man was able to perform emergency CPR on him after he began choking on a sausage. After some minutes the dog's breathing stabilized and he was safe.

It is common for people to panic when their pet begins to choke or consumes something dangerous. However, panicking in these situations may cost time needed to save the life of the animal. The tools needed to save the lives of your pet can be found online by classes given by the Red Cross.

One man living in Rize, Turkey was able to use his quick thinking and first-aid training to save a stray puppy he found in danger of losing its life.

Omer Yilmaz was walking through the city, minding his own business when he heard a local shopkeeper yell for assistance. The shopkeeper explained he was feeding a stray puppy that had wandered by his shop when the dog suddenly stopped breathing. Omer discovered the dog was choking on a piece of sausage.

Omer used two fingers to reach for the sausage that was blocking the dog's airway. After some effort, he was finally able to dislodge the piece of food. Next, he gently rubbed the dog's chest.

Omer moved the dog into a position to allow him to perform CPR on the pup. A few minutes of work and the puppy's breathing was normal.

Omer's quick thinking saved the dog's life.
