A group of semi-truck drivers in Michigan got an unusual distress signal this past April. Police reported that a man was planning to jump off a bridge and onto the freeway underneath.

Even though it was 1 AM, thirteen truck drivers responded to the call. They drove under the bridge to form a somewhat safe landing in case the man jumped.

Thankfully the man didn't end up jumping, but the drivers' response is actually not unheard of. Officers in the Huntington Woods Police Department explained that they have created a standard procedure with truckers if someone's planning to jump.

The department has never had this many drivers show up before.Over the course of four hours, the drivers were able to support the police officers' efforts to talk the man off the bridge. He is now in medical care.

The police department tweeted about the incident. They shared a photo of what happened, but also emphasized other ways to help. The department tweeted that you should always call 911 if you're in a dark headspace. You can also try speaking with someone you trust, be it a friend or even a clergy member. Additionally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-8255.

This incident is a stirring reminder that we can all be heroes. It doesn't always have to take a call for help to recognize when someone is in need. Pass on this beautiful story to your friends and family!
