Man Says He Is Not Inviting Youngest Daughter To His Wedding Because Fiancée Doesn't Like Her

Planning a wedding can be exciting, fun, stressful and extremely time-consuming. While many people strive to make their special day as perfect as possible, they can sometimes lose sight of the bigger picture. A wedding is a day full of celebration and love. Most couples choose to highlight this by putting on lavish ceremonies and receptions full of amazing food, decor and music, all while they are surrounded by their dearest friends and family.

A man and his fiancée had been planning their wedding for a while before it ended up getting delayed. Once it was time to get the ball rolling again, they went to work making their wedding as perfect as possible, and the man catered to each and every one of his fiancée’s wants and needs regarding their big day. The couple agreed on making their wedding a sophisticated event that was sure to be costly and lavish, so they decided to make the wedding child-free.

Even though the man had two daughters of his own, he had no issue with going along with the fiancee's wishes to keep the wedding child-free. This created problems within his family after his youngest daughter told her grandparents about the situation, and he was unsure whether he was right or wrong for choosing to not invite his own daughter to his wedding. Another Reddit user re-uploaded the original post on July 24, 2021, and it has been circulating around the forum ever since, with plenty of people chiming in with their own opinions on the matter.

A Reddit user posted a previous post from a man describing his wedding day dilemma. In the original post, the man who was getting married explained that he has two daughters from previous relationships. His oldest is 18 years old and his youngest is 9 years old.

He described his fiancée as a “very sophisticated person” who “doesn’t really care for young children.” Since the wedding was so lavish and expensive, the couple had agreed on making it child-free, meaning the man’s youngest daughter would not be invited, but his oldest would be since she was technically an adult. His fiancée gets along with his 18-year-old daughter, but not the 9-year-old daughter.

The father’s younger daughter had gotten upset when she realized she wasn’t invited to the wedding and told her grandparents about it when they came to visit. “I don’t want my fiancée to have to deal with my daughter on the most important day of her life,” the man wrote. His parents told him he was being a terrible father for prioritizing his fiancée over his daughter, so they no longer wanted to be in the wedding so they could take the 9-year-old out for a day of fun. He refused to let them do so.

The man has since wondered if he was right or wrong for wanting a child-free wedding. Many people flooded the comments expressing how upset they were with the way the father and his fiancée were treating the 9-year-old girl. “The fiancée doesn’t want the child in the wedding because she doesn’t even want the girl in their lives,” one user wrote. Another commented, “I don’t understand why you would want to marry someone who actively dislikes your children.”
