Man Rigs Box To Deter Package Thieves In Amusing Way

It's getting a lot harder for Americans to order online only to have their packages stolen off the porch by brazen bandits. This often happens in broad daylight as people witness the thievery. A survey conducted by Shorr Packaging found that almost one-third of respondents claim they have had a package stolen from their property. Close to one half refuse to purchase expensive electronics online as they fear being ripped off.

One victim, a hardworking Tacoma man, had enough. Greedy thieves had stolen multiple packages delivered to his porch while he was at work. From toilet paper to pricey Jeep automotive parts, Jaireme Barrow was fuming about his losses.

He had reported the thefts to the police, but they're inundated with all kinds of other criminals to pursue.

Barrow got creative, however, and his video is hilarious. He developed a rig or booby-trap that would scare off thieves as they attempted to pick up a package and flee. His invention has a name, TheBlankBox, and he is also selling them to people tired of package bandits.

The brilliant little rig is made of fishing wire and a 12-gauge shotgun blank and is attached to a regular-looking box. When the thief tries to pick up the box and run, it lets off a loud popping noise like a gunshot. This instantly sends bandits running for their lives.

The video Barrow took of the thieves is amusing to watch. Some trip and fall on the ground as they run from the gunshot sound. He set up security cameras for a few weeks to record thieves picking up the rigged box and dropping it like a hot potato. People love the buzz and have viewed Barrow's video 23 million times and counting. Police, however, are hinting at a legality issue here, but Barrow says his device is just like any car alarm.

TheBlankBox website is selling the rigged boxes for $59.99 each.

This is a must-see video for all ages to view. Pass it along, folks.
