Man Puts Wedding ‘On Hold’ After Fiancée Creates Scene At His Work Suggesting He’s Unfaithful

Being a relationship can be incredibly exciting and rewarding, but it can also come with its fair share of challenges. Learning how to compromise and navigate situations with another person is not always easy, and it can be extremely testing on one’s personal well-being as well as the stability of the relationship. On top of that, everyone has their own set of insecurities that they need to overcome, and unfortunately, those insecurities can arise during hardships in relationships.

This was sadly true for one 25-year-old man who is engaged to be married. He had been completely over the moon with his 24-year-old fiancée following their engagement and they were already happily planning several parts of their wedding, including the venue and the invitations. Prior to sending out invitations, the pair went through their guest list together, which is when their planning took a turn for the worst.

The couple agreed that they would invite all of their coworkers since they had been at their respective jobs for a while and grew to like everyone they worked with. However, the fiancée did not want to invite one of the man’s coworkers because of how pretty she was. The couple talked some more about it, but ultimately the fiancée just decided to go to the man’s place of work and made a scene, suggesting he was cheating on her with the coworker. The man went to Reddit on Sept. 2, 2021, searching for advice, and explained that he was so furious that he put his wedding on hold and has been taking space from his partner.

Starting off his Reddit post, the original poster (OP) said he was the happiest he had ever been when his girlfriend Amy agreed to marry him. They quickly began planning their wedding, including the venue, date and invitations. They agreed that they both wanted to invite all of their coworkers — everyone except for OP’s coworker Tally. “Tally is also one of my close friends so this surprised me that Amy didn’t want to invite her,” OP said. “She has met Tally multiple times and there didn’t seem to be any issues.”

Amy explained that she was uncomfortable with OP and Tally’s friendship, and that “Tally is the type of person to try to sway taken men and be the center of attention.” After talking some more, OP found out that Amy thought all of this just based on Tally’s looks, much to OP’s confusion. “Amy is a beautiful woman so I don’t know why she feels this way,” he said.

However, OP was understanding and respected Amy’s request —  he just wanted to give Tally a heads up before they sent out their wedding invitations. “Amy agreed and that was really that, we didn’t speak on the matter after,” OP said. About a week later, OP went to work and noticed that Tally had started to ignore him. Most of his coworkers also acted weird around OP and Tally. He tried to contact Tally privately to figure out what was going on, but she never gave him a real answer, so he contacted her boyfriend and finally got some answers.

It turned out that Amy had gone into OP’s place of work on his day off and handed out invitations to everyone in front of Tally. When Tally didn’t get one, Amy told her, “You aren’t invited, women like you aren’t welcome.” This led everyone to believe that OP had cheated on Amy with Tally, resulting in them acting strangely toward the pair. Tally was so harassed by some coworkers that she even began looking for another job.

OP apologized to Tally’s boyfriend to pass onto Tally, and confronted his fiancée when he got home. He told her, “If we are really going to get married, get your insecurities in check and grow up.” Since then, OP put the wedding on hold and has been staying with a friend despite Amy and her friends and family telling him he was wrong to do so.

Reddit users were quick to jump in and warn OP about the woman he was engaged to. One user wrote, “Red flags everywhere. I’d put your wedding on hold. This behavior won’t improve.” Another user agreed, and said, “Amy is a bully, capricious, and jealous woman. I can’t imagine doing this at a professional setting. Or ever. Run.”

OP updated Redditors and explained that he never cheated on Amy with Tally, and even viewed Tally as a sister to him. He did some damage control and went to speak with his boss about what can be done to keep Tally at work and prevent people from continuing to harass her. OP also clarified that he is staying at a friend’s house while taking space from Amy since the wedding is still on hold.
