Man Prances Around In A Pink Frilly Tutu In Public In An Attempt To Cheer Up His Wife During Cancer Treatments.

When Linda Carey was diagnosed with breast cancer, her husband Bob did what a good husband ought to do--he vowed to support her every step of the way in any way he could.

Bob brought his day job--photography--into the picture, so to speak. He wanted to find a way to help Linda smile even in the darkest, most trying moments. He came up with a concept so absurd and silly that he knew he was bound to succeed.

Bob went to the store and picked up a man-sized frilly pink tutu for himself. He then created a photo series of himself wearing the tutu--and only the tutu--in a set of poses and locations that delighted not only Linda but also everyone else she showed.

He wound up taking the tutu with him everywhere he went. Thankfully, he went lots of places, leaving us with lots of terrific tutu pictures!

Every time Linda went in for treatment, she’d bring out her phone and share the latest pictures with the others getting treatment. Now Bob was cheering not only Linda, but her fellow cancer patients as well!

This little bit of sharing got Bob thinking that, if he could cheer this small group of cancer patients, maybe he could be of help to others going through treatment as well! If the tutu pictures were cheering Linda, they could certainly help to lift the spirits of others going through the same troubles.

Bob founded “The Tutu Project,” with an annual fundraising goal of $50,000 to help cancer patients pay for treatment options not covered by insurance companies.

Their website says that their goal is to help reduce the stress that comes alongside a breast cancer diagnosis.

While Bob’s tutu pictures kicked off this venture, the Tutu Project now encourages others to submit their own tutu pictures. The project aims to provide awareness and support not just one month out of the year, but every single day.

They even started a hashtag on social media tied to the cause, a challenge called #Dare2Tutu.

As part of the Tutu Project, Bob has published a book and a calendar of his greatest pink tutu moments.

Bob, we are proud of you for helping Linda, and we can’t wait to see where your work goes.

Help us pass on Bob’s challenge to others, spreading the word to help breast cancer patients every day!
