The man, simply known as by his YouTube channel name of Bacon Moose, explained that he got a traffic ticket back in 2012 in a town where police officers and red-light cameras are used as money traps for the municipal government. Bacon Moose decided that while he had to pay the $137 fine, he was going to do it in a manner that would express his displeasure with local law enforcement. To that end, he folded 137 $1 bills in the shape of pigs using origami and placed them in two Dunkin Donuts boxes, reports the Huffington Post.

Arriving at the town hall, the man recorded his interaction with the court clerk. At first, the clerk wasn’t sure what Bacon Moose was giving him. After opening one of the boxes, the clerk flatly refused to accept Bacon Moose’s payment unless he unfolded the bills. A short argument then ensued. Bacon Moose pointed out that people are allowed to pay fines with cash. Explaining that, in an effort to avoid having to pay the court’s 5 percent fee that comes with payments made through credit or debit cards, Bacon Moose chose to pay with dollar bills. The clerk still refused to accept the payment and called in a police officer to speak with Bacon Moose.

Upon seeing the way Bacon Moose chose to pay the fine, the officer became amused, but nonetheless said that Bacon Moose would have to unfold the bills if he wanted to use them. Bacon Moose accepted the officer’s request and went to a nearby table to unfold them. In comments attached to the video, Bacon Moose said that he never chickened out. The man expected to have to unfold the bills at one point and was glad that a police officer was present to see his cop and donut joke.

Once again giving the box to the clerk, Bacon Moose left one bill in the shape of a pig, calling the little guy the sole survivor of the “Great Dollar Pig Massacre of 2012.” Laughing at Bacon Moose’s comment, the clerk spent 9 minutes carefully counting the payment. In a later conversation, the clerk expressed admiration at Bacon Moose’s joke, asking how long it took for him to fold the bills. Bacon Moose replied that it took over four hours and he spent about two minutes on each bill.
