A man named Andrew Levy discovered a big problem in his local area and decided to do something about it. Local school children were racking up school lunch debts that their families couldn't afford to pay off.

So he decided to pay them off himself. His compassionate actions started a movement that is now making a difference in his entire county and inspiring similar acts across the nation.

The town of Jupiter, Florida has a number of low-income families who have had a hard time coming up with the money to pay for their children's school lunches. Some of them may have had to go hungry if it weren't for the selfless actions of Mr. Levy.

He decided to make that school lunch debt disappear because he didn't want children to have to worry about food when they're supposed to be focused on getting an education.

A local woman named Angie Vyas-Knight shared in the Facebook group 'Jupiter Mamas' that a number of students' families were having trouble affording school lunches. She requested that the Palm Beach County schools share statistics about the school lunch debt throughout the district as she told WPTV News.

She discovered that throughout the town's nine schools there was an unpaid lunch debt of $944.34. When Andrew Levy, a real estate agent in Jupiter, saw the information he was distressed that these kids were dealing with the threat of hunger. So he chose to pay the debt for the kids completely.

The real estate agent told CNN, "I thought that's crazy. Food is something you shouldn't have to think about. Children shouldn't learn hungry."

He was also inspired to look beyond the needs of kids in Jupiter. Levy realized that families not being able to afford lunches for their kids was a problem throughout the county, state, and nation. He decided to help raise funds to pay off lunch debts for other kids in his county.

In Palm Beach County alone there was a staggering $50,000 lunch debt for the county's 180,000+ students according to WPTV News.  To Levy, this amount was unacceptable. His actions in paying off the debt in Jupiter and the media coverage of that charitable gift have sparked over 200 people to offer their support on his social media page.
