Man Jumps In Ice Cold Water To Rescue A Little Dog That Isn't Even His Own

Don Chatten is living proof that everyday people can be true heroes. He was enjoying his day at Ellicott Creek Park's Bark Park with his dogs when his pups began to act strangely. One, in particular, seemed upset.

Don couldn't figure out what was wrong at first, but then he stopped and listened. After a few seconds, he heard whimpering coming from nearby. It sounded like an animal in distress.

He and his rescue dogs followed the noise to the creek. There, Don saw something that made his heart stop. Stuck in the middle of the icy water, a small dog was crying out for help.

Don told people nearby to call for help, but he knew there was no time to wait. The icy water could quickly kill such a tiny pup. Instead of standing by and allowing that to happen, Don began breaking the ice and wading out to where the dog was stranded.

The icy water reached all the way to Don's waist, but he kept going until he reached the dog. He cuddled him close and carried him back to shore.

It turns out that the dog, Jackson, had been missing for some time. After receiving emergency treatment, Jackson was able to go home to his owner, safe and sound thanks to one man's heroic actions.

Like the hero he is, Don doesn't want any credit. He said it was all thanks to his rescue dog sensing Jackson's distress.
