How far would you go to save your pet? For most people, the bond they have with their cat, dog, or even fish is a bond that’s hard to describe to other people. It’s something so essential to who they are. For one man, he decided he would do anything to make sure his dog stayed alive.
A man named Randy Etter learned that his beloved dog, Gemini, was close to dying and made a promise that he would do what he could to help Gemini survive. Gemini had been Randy’s best friend since Gemini was a tiny puppy. Gemini became sick after he swallowed part of Randy's girlfriend’s daughter’s baby bottle. Randy didn’t realize what was wrong until Gemini began acting strangely: he started moving slower and then began vomiting uncontrollably.

Randy told The Dodo that he lost his job searching for the right vet who would give him a definitive answer about Gemini’s health. Ultimately, a vet told him that Gemini would need surgery to remove the blockage in his stomach. Randy did not have the money to cover the expensive procedure, which would run to about $4,500.
Out of near desperation, and unstoppable love for his beloved pet, Randy made a post on social media pleading for financial help. He wrote that he would sell his car for $3,000 to raise some of the money required for the surgery. This was clearly a difficult decision since Randy had just put a new suspension on the vehicle.
A friend loaned Randy $2,000, and then a local charity called the S.O.A.R. Initiative stepped in to help Randy with the rest of the money. They raised nearly $3,000 from people who wanted to help Randy save his best friend.
Thanks to these generous financial contributions, Gemini was able to have the surgery and emerge happy and healthy. Randy is of course super grateful.
