Man Has Too Much Land He Never Uses - So He Rescues 45 Dogs And Lets Them Roam Free

Dogs were created to live in homes with families and not to dwell in shelters. And no matter how nice a particular shelter is inside, it is not a good place for a dog.

Shelter staff makes a real effort to keep the dogs in their care as comfortable as possible. But even they would rather see the dogs in better environments. The reality of the situation is that most dogs in shelters will never find a family to adopt them.

These dogs will more than likely grow old and die in the shelters that house them. One Canadian man is working with his wife to find homes for as many dogs as possible. The couple is especially interested in finding homes for dogs that live in shelters.

Mark Starmer, and his wife Sharon, presently care for 45 dogs and a grey wolf. The story began for them when they visited a shelter for dogs in 2004. Their hearts went out for the many dogs there who were unable to find a home and family.

Mark and his wife noticed that older dogs and dogs who suffered from illness and injuries found it more difficult to find an adopted home. The couple made it their business to find a home for some of these dogs.

Mark and his wife own four acres of land in British Columbia, Canada. This is where they keep the grey wolf and 45 dogs. The dogs are not kept in cages. Instead, they run freely about the land. They have access to the house also.

It takes a lot of effort and resources to care for the 46 animals but the couple has never wavered in their commitment. The Starmers are also looking for families to adopt some of the dogs for which they care. Recently, Mark traveled to New Mexico to deliver a dog to its new family.

He says he would travel to the end of the earth to assure a dog has a family that loves them. If you are interested in the Starmers and the dogs they care for, you can follow them on Instagram at @somedogsareangels or their website Somedogsareangels.com.
