Man Has Tearful Reunion With Rottweiler Who Had Disappeared 8 Years Ago

We all know just how loving dogs can be. They are there whenever we need a little extra love and attention. They can't wait to see us after we have been away for hours. There is nothing better than the love of a dog when you are feeling down and out.

When our dogs run away, we often turn to social media in the hopes of finding them. We post pictures to local groups, asking our friends and family to share our heartfelt pleas. Many dogs are now microchipped, meaning that if they are taken to a vet and scanned, the vet can tell who owns the dog.

If you lose your dog today, there is a very good chance someone will find him or her and get them back to you.

Joshua Edwards lost Duke, his Rottweiler, eight years ago after the dog was able to escape from his yard. As reported by The Miami Herald, Duke disappeared without a trace. Joshua searched for months and months with no luck. He believed that Duke had been stolen from him and that he wouldn't ever see him again.

That's why it came as such a surprise when he received a call from a pet microchip company recently. The person on the other end of the line told Joshua that they were holding a dog named Duke that was registered to him. Joshua was very confused at first. It couldn't be the same dog, could it?

But thankfully, it was the same dog that he had lost eight long years ago. A woman had discovered the now 9-year-old dog on the streets. Joshua headed to the hospital and waited for Duke to meet him again. He didn't know what to expect from the dog after eight long years.

If you are ready to see just how well the reunion went, grab a tissue and click on the video below. You'll be touched to see just how much Duke seems to remember his old owner!
