Father figures are undeniably one of the most important characters in any child’s life. Without a doubt, any man can father a child, but it takes a special personality to take responsibility of being a dad.

Growing up as a girl, you need a father figure in your life to help you understand the male perspective and not make mistakes when choosing a male spouse. As a boy, you need a male character to help you tackle everyday issues that affect the male gender.

While many don’t have the privilege of growing up with their biological fathers, some heaven-sent men take the space and opportunity to play the dad role. Even without blood ties, some men take immense responsibility, care, and willingness to raise a child as theirs.

This narration is quite familiar to one Lauren Hernandez, who found a father figure in her mother’s long-term boyfriend, Joe Iosco. The young girl, in her teenage years at the time in 2016, approached Joe and asked him to step in as her dad officially by adopting her. Jose and Lauren’s mom found love in each other and began dating after Lauren’s biological father left.

Joe stepped into Lauren’s life and featured in it every day after her biological father left. Lauren told ABC News that she would only see her biological father a few days a month and felt a bit distant from the man who had fathered her. On the other hand, Joe was right beside her every step of the way in her life. Joe perfectly wore the dad title and slipped into the shoes so remarkably that Lauren continued to grow fond of him.

An 18-year-old Lauren felt the need to thank Joe after her high school graduation. She presented her gifts in a tidy white gift box that held a framed poem. The poem was directed to Joe, asking him to adopt Lauren officially. Reading the adoption papers hit Joe in all the right spots, and he couldn’t help himself but break down. Lauren’s heartening actions can be seen in the video below.

What would you do for the people you love despite not having blood ties? Lauren decided to cement the love and made Joe her dad. Does this story move you? I bet it does. Spread the piece to touch other people’s lives.
