A giant golden orb spider was found in a garage loated in Buderim, Queensland, Australia. The picture of the spider was posted by Australian man Patrik Berg on his Facebook page last November. Patrik posted a second picture of the spider earlier this month.

Patrik, who took the picture in November 2016, told Daily Mail Australia: "I've seen some big ones before but not like that. She was an absolute monster."

He named this so-called "monster" Martha who is estimated to be around 15-17 cm (around 6 inches) big, twice as wide as a man's hand.

"We were just going to have a barbecue [...] and I saw it as we pulled up in the driveway and just went, 'holy dooley!'" explained Patrik. "They're quite common, especially in Buderim, there [are] some big insects and lots of natural forests and rainforests."

When asked if they did anything about the spider Patrik said, "We just left it and took some pictures. They don't live very long and one day she was gone." Or so they thought. On May 16, Patrik posted a second picture of Martha with the caption, "She's back." Though it's not confirmed, it's very likely the same spider from before as these species of spider can live up to a year.

One of Patrik's friends shared the old photo to the Reddit thread r/australia in February, which unsuprisingly garnered a lot of attention. "I have a pic somewhere in the archive with my dad holding his hat directly behind one and it was no joke the same size as it," wrote one user. "The thought of that just makes my skin crawl," added another.

"I know this species doesn't typically grow that large, but I've seen some yellow bum ones that easily had the leg span of a dinner plate," wrote a third.
