When you adopt a pet, you make a promise for the pet's lifetime. Your promise includes to provide the pet with everything it needs in order to thrive.

This may include food, water, shelter, veterinary care, affection, playtime, grooming and more. Some pets are more demanding than others, and each pet has its own needs.

Choosing the Right Pet for Your Lifestyle

It is important to choose the right pet for your lifestyle. If you cannot be home to take your dog out at the same time every day, a dog might not be right. If you will not brush a long-haired cat every day, this might not be a good choice for you.

What One Pet Owner Did

One pet owner seems to have stopped caring for their long-haired cat. The long coats of these cats need to be carefully brushed every day. Without proper grooming, the thick hair becomes matted and tangled. This can make it difficult for the cat to eat, breathe or move.

The cat's skin becomes more prone to diseases and injuries. This pet owner dumped a cat off at a pet shelter. The cat's long hair was all matted and tangled.

What the Animal Shelter Did

According to The Dodo, The animal shelter workers could not even tell what was in the pet carrier. It took them a while to realize it was a cat. They had to sedate the cat in order to groom it. The tangled thick locks of gray fur made the cat look like musician Bob Marley, so the shelter workers named him.

About Bob Marley, the Cat

Bob Marley is now a well-groomed cat. He is a bit fat, and he needs a place to exercise. Shelter operators are hoping that he gets his forever home with a family soon.

What Do You Think?
