Man Develops App That Locks Child’s Phone Until They Call Their Parents Back

Worried parents everywhere can rejoice in the news of one father's genius invention.

Nick Herbert from the UK had grown increasingly frustrated with his kids' addiction to their smartphones, rendering them unable to reply to his messages or phone calls.

So he decided to do something about it. He went and developed a new app. The app, aptly named ReplyASAP, locks a phone if messages from the other party are ignored. It does this by distinguishing between messages marked as important from parents.

The only way to unlock the phone is for the child to text or call back.

While some people argue that this is an invasion of privacy, most parents are happy to find out that there is an app that makes it easier for them to reach their child when they absolutely need to.

While the app is free to download, other features of the program come at an additional cost. The popular app hit the market in August of 2017 and has already had over 100,000 downloads, according to APKPure.com.

Both users must have the app installed and be connected to the internet for it to function properly. While the app was first designed for parents to make their communication with kids easier, it can be used by anybody. Indeed, at least one teen has expressed relief that it might now be easier to keep in touch with her busy mom.

One of the biggest benefits -- or drawbacks, depending on your point of view --  of ReplyASAP is that it overrides the silent mode function so that the incoming message will always make a noise until the recipient reacts to it, even if the phone is otherwise on silent.

What do you think about this controversial app? Be sure to spread the message to everyone else that you know. Even if it's not for everybody, many will at least be interested to know that such a feature exists.
