Man Defends Decision To Marry Woman Who Was Pregnant With Another Man's Baby

Most people would get praised for taking in a child from another person and treating that child as his or her own. Sadly, it’s not always the case for everyone. Like a guy who got criticized after people found out that he met his girlfriend while she was pregnant with a child from another man.
When a Brazilian woman named Caroline Oliveira met Edgar Costa Oliveira, she had just freed herself from a toxic relationship. All she knew was she wanted to meet a man who shared the same interests as hers. So, when Edgar came into her life, she knew she had to go for it since he had all the qualities of the man she was looking for.
In an interview with the Brazilian publication Crescer, Caroline explained that she had been praying for someone like Edgar to come into her life.
“Tired of being used and hurt by relationships that didn’t respect me or that didn’t give me hope and trust, I asked God to put in my life a man who knew how to treat me like a woman; who respected me; who had the same goals as I want to build a family,” Caroline said.
Caroline then met Edgar in one of the most unexpected ways – through Uber. At the time they met each other, Caroline said she was already pregnant. But the father of her child didn’t want to do anything with her bundle of joy. Little did she know that the same person she met on Uber would become the love of her life and would be the same person who would stand as her father’s child.
“God knows the right timing of all things. When it seemed that God had forgotten, a person appears through Uber,” she said.

“I wasn't abandoned or rejected by the child's father, it just happened unplanned. And a week after meeting him, we decided to arrange a meeting. So, on that day, without my knowing it, I was meeting the love of my life,” she added.
Edgar admitted that he initially felt scared about marrying someone who was pregnant. But his love for Caroline took all his worries away.
“I was, yes, afraid of getting involved because she was pregnant with a child that was not mine. I didn't know what that would entail if we had a relationship. But then the fear went so unnoticed that I unwittingly got involved. She completes me to the point that pregnancy is not an impediment,” he wrote in a now-deleted post.
A month after he asked her on a date, Caroline asked her if he would marry her.
"I replied that it was also what I wanted. So, you ask me: but so fast? When it's in God's plans, there's no reason to wait. Let's get married at the end of next year and save ourselves until that moment, so that God will bless us. In that time together, for the joy of our lives, Lara came into the world. I'm in love with these two women and everything in my power I will do for them,” he said.
While they received positive reactions, there were also people who couldn’t help but throw hurtful words against them.
“Most were men and I don't understand why so much hate. They defamed me and my girlfriend and even our baby,” he said.
For Edgar, what’s more important is the kind of love that he has for his child, Lara.
“Today, I learned the meaning of a father's love and here is this most beautiful thing,” he remarked.
