The instruction Jesus gave to his followers was 'Take up your cross and follow Me'. And for each believer, the cross they bear is unique to their life circumstances. The journey of each person is a unique proposition that may not be understood by the people around them.

The call from Jesus to take up the cross was a literal one for believer Acie Burleson. Acie was inspired to spread the gospel of Christ after a dream he had. Ever since then he has been traveling around the country with the heavy wooden cross, and that was 14 years ago.

However, his latest journey has gained the attention of people across the country.

Acie began his journey on March 11. The journey started in Andrews, South Carolina where he lives. His destination is the Grand Canyon, and he carries the cross he constructed with him. He hopes to reach his destination sometime in late May. Despite the ridicule and criticism, he has experienced along the way, Acie will not be deterred from his passion. He spoke to the public via social media recently and said he simply 'I love Jesus.'

Acie arrived in Memphis, Tennessee on April 29. He already had several stories to share from his time on the road. One story that he told the Carolina News and Reporter inspires him to keep going despite the hardships:

Acie said he was walking along his path when a woman cut him off in a car. He said the woman was crying hysterically. Acie said he asked her what was wrong and she told him she was a block away from taking her own life when she saw him. The woman said seeing Acie stopped her from completing the deed.
