Following the aftermath of the tornadoes that swept through the south and Midwest in the United States in December 2021, one man is doing what he can to help those who were impacted by the severe weather conditions and natural disasters. The tragedy has since left many people without electricity and has unfortunately resulted in casualties and injuries as well. With so much devastation, there are a few beacons of hope peeking through to help bring some light back to these communities in need.

A man by the name of Jim Finch is showing how just a small act of kindness can help the tornado victims in Kentucky. He took the time to drive to Mayfield, Kentucky, to give a little back to the community there that was affected by the tornadoes. Along with him came a grill and a truckload of food so he could do his part to feed those who were in need.

According to Yahoo News, Mayfield, in particular, was extremely devastated by the tornadoes, with more than 100 people inside a candle factory in the town when it collapsed following the tornadoes’ sweep. So far, about 40 people have been rescued from the factory. Over 100 people in the area are still unaccounted for.

Through all of the harsh wind gusts and flickering lights, there have been some moments of hope, including Finch’s expedition to Mayfield. Since then, people have been applauding Finch for his amazing act of courage and kindness, as the Mayfield community and other surrounding areas that were impacted by the tornadoes work on healing and moving forward.

On Dec. 12, 2021, Victor Ordonez uploaded a video on Twitter with the caption: “This man drove half an hour with a grill and a truckload of food and parked right in the middle of #Mayfield, Kentucky.” The video was a short clip of Finch explaining how he just wanted to do his part to help those that were affected by the tornadoes.

“I know they don’t have no electricity, so that means they don’t have no electric, no restaurants, no running water, so I just figured I’d do what I can do,” Finch said. “Show up with some food and some water.”

Since then, Finch’s beautiful act of kindness has received plenty of attention and praise, inspiring others to do their part to help. According to Yahoo News, one person said, “What a blessing he is. He is warming hearts and bellies with his act of kindness.” Another person said, “Such a kind human being. I am humbled by his generosity of spirit!”

Ordonez shared another tweet that showed a panoramic view of the affected area and the buildings that had been destroyed. “This was the scene right before Jim Finch, the man in the video, set up his grill,” Ordonez said. “There was later Church service in that parking lot across from him.”

According to Yahoo News, an altar at the church in Mayfield didn’t suffer any damage, even though the rest of the building was destroyed. More people continued to show just how appreciative they were for Finch and his efforts. One person said, “Jim Finch brings light. I am sure the church service did too and so do you for documenting it.”
