Music conventions are often places where professional musicians gather to examine new or interesting equipment. This video shows, at a 2017 expo in California, a seemingly unknown person sat down at an organ on the expo floor and started gathering a crowd of admirers as he began to belt out some truly amazing tunes. That person turned out to in fact be Cory Henry, an accomplished artist in his own right.

But as great as these types of events are, we tend to know what we are going to be getting. What amazes us, even more, is when talent appears unexpectedly and an unexpected place, flashing out of the blue to surprise and dazzle. This is what happened at a music expo in Anaheim, California, where Cory Henry took a seat at an electric organ and shocked everyone around him with his incredible playing.

It was 2017 and Henry was browsing the various instruments displayed at the exposition when he came across the Hammond X-K5 electric organ, according to the video's title. This model is an especially well-liked variation of the famous Hammond organs, which have gained a great reputation for their sound and affordability.

The National Association of Music Merchants displays various innovations in the world of musical instruments, according to their website. It was among these new instruments that Henry found the Hammond X-K5 and decided to give it a whirl.

Beginning with Stevie Wonder's "Boogie on Reggae Woman," Henry played with an infectious and joyous abandon. The fellow music enthusiasts around him couldn't help but stop and listen in.

As he continued to play, he seemed to get more and more lost in the music, entering an absorbed, trance-like state that seems to represent the essence of artistic expression.

As it turns out, Henry is far from just any old customer at a music convention. He is thirty-two years old and has been a professional musician for many years, first with the jazz group Snarky Puppy and now as a solo artist. In 2014, he even won a Grammy for best R&B performance, and then another in 2015 for best contemporary instrumental album, as is mentioned in his biography at his official site.

But even if he is a star on the big stage, on the expo floor he was an unknown quantity, and that is what made the moment so special. Get your friends to check this video out, so they too can feel the joy of a surprise appearance of musical brilliance.
