Man Arrested For Allegedly Spanking A Complete Stranger's Toddler At The Grocery Store

Spanking a child, especially a toddler, is controversial. Not everyone agrees with this approach to discipline. Some don't even believe punishing a child in any way is wise. They prefer learning experiences over negative ones. While not everyone agrees on an approach to disciplining a child, virtually all do agree on one thing: you shouldn't discipline a stranger's child. Yet, that is what occurred at a Kroger store in Georgia recently.

The bizarre incident involved a dad and his two-year-old son standing in the checkout line. The little one asked for some candy. Dad said no. It was a little too late in the day for the child to have any sweets.

Perhaps the youngster wasn't fond of dad's answer. The man standing behind the father and son apparently was less fond of the toddler's attitude. So, he spanked the child -- thrice -- as a means of disciplining him.

The behavior also got the man arrested. No, you cannot just grab someone's son and allegedly physically assault them. How the courts will choose to punish the "random spanker" is unknown.

A lesson does exist here. Parents shouldn't take their eyes off their young ones for a second. Mercifully, the child wasn't seriously harmed in this incident. The situation could have turned out much worse. Toddlers can suffer injuries quite easily when a full-grown adult becomes physical with them.
