Over 20 Percent of Humans Live On Elephants' Natural Habitat

Elephants are amazing creatures that we need to work extremely hard to protect.

Over 20 percent of the world's population live in or near the Asian elephant's territory leading to severe loss of habitat. Add to that the encroachment into land once used by the African elephant, and it is easy to see that humans must work together to protect these majestic creatures.

Elephants Can Walk Up to 141 Miles Per Day

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be an elephant?

If you think that you hurt after a long day on your feet, then can you imagine what it must feel like to carry 12,000 pounds on them daily as that is what the average Asian elephant weighs.

Yet, an African elephant can walk up to 141 miles per day.

They, however, normally walk only an average of 15 miles, but that figure increases regularly as habitat becomes more scattered.

The 308 Pound Elephant Trunk

The elephant's trunk is an amazing tool. It can be used to blow gentle air across a sleeping calf as seen in this video. Yet, it is powerful enough to kill in a single swipe.

An elephant's trunk can weigh up to 308 pounds, and it contains more than 40,000 muscles!!

Embarrassingly Loud Voice

Stanford scientists have proven that when an elephant rumbles the sound can be heard up to six miles away. Elephants, however, do not trust their large ears to hear the sound, however, as they feel the vibrations of that rumble through their feet.
