From ballet flats to boho sandals and frequently reappearing roughed up converses, how Malia Obama’s fashion style has changed since she left the White House. As the 44th president’s eldest daughter, Malia has been known to carry the same chic and comfortable look her mother Michelle Obama wears.

Since President Obama’s inauguration in 2008 where Malia Obama was just ten-years-old many things have changed. For one, Malia is now a grown woman carrying on her studies at Harvard University. The 21-year-old is also pursuing many interests that take her all around the globe. However, Malia’s fashion style although varying has always channeled the same attitude- trendy and comfortable.

Since her family left the White House in 2017, Malia has been known to pair spaghetti strap dresses with strappy sandals for a cute summer or spring look. She rocked summer dresses by keeping them simple and chic.

During her gap year between high school and college Malia chose casual looks usually jeans paired with a solid color top and oversized jacket or choosing to sport a casual dress with sneakers or sandals.

But Malia hasn’t shied away from making statements with her outfits. When it was reported she was seen smoking what looked like a marjuana cigarette at the Lollapalooza music festival according to the Telegraph. Some users criticized the president’s daughter for engaging in the activity, but Malia decided to give a cynical reply via T-shirt later on. She wore a white shirt with the words “Smoking Kills” written across the front.

However as a third-year at Harvard Malia tends to go for more toned down casual looks nowadays. Frequently pairing combat boots with denim outfits or opting for converse sneakers when she wants a more laid-back look.
