Dogs have a reputation for not being particularly friendly with mailmen. One Golden Retriever from Michigan, however, is proving that this isn't always the case.

Earlier this year, a new mailman was assigned to Moose's family home—and Moose has since become very friendly with him.

One Michigan day, Meghan Gruszynski noticed that her sweet Golden Retriever Moose was acting a little odd. The one-and-a-half-year-old Moose insisted on going outside that afternoon, and at the same time each subsequent day.

Watching from her window one day, Meghan spied Moose having an interaction with the neighborhood the United States Postal Service carrier that brought a smile to her face.

As the postal worker drove up to the Gruszynskis’s home, he stopped his truck and stepped out onto the family’s driveway. Moose immediately ran up to meet the driver, jumping up on his hind legs and giving the carrier lots of kisses.

“It was adorable,” Moose's owner Meghan Gruszynski told the Dodo. “I loved how much he loved our boy and loved how much Moose loved saying hi to him.”

The friendly meeting put such a smile on Meghan’s face that she recorded it and posted it to her Instagram, where it shot to viral fame. The happy meeting quickly turned into a daily ritual as Moose goes outside to meet the mailman each afternoon.

Speaking to the publication, Meghan said that she loves how much the mailman cares for her dog and how much Moose enjoys seeing the deliveryman.

One day, while talking with the carrier, Meghan learned that Moose has been providing the carrier with an outlet to deal with the grief of losing his own beloved dog. Meghan feels that Moose picked up on the mailman’s distress and wanted to help him feel better.

Meghan records each and every interaction between Moose and the mailman on Moose’s very own Instagram page, appropriately called The Life of Moose.

Oftentimes, the carrier stops at Meghan’s house even if he doesn’t have any mail for the Gruszynskis and is simply looking for his daily hugs and kisses from Moose. Meghan looks forward to seeing how Moose and the mailman’s friendship develops over the years as the carrier says that he will be their mailman until he retires.

Meghan also chronicles Moose’s other adventures on his Instagram page, including the sweet dog having fun on family vacations and playing with his canine friends. In the end, Moose’s daily interactions with the neighborhood mailman show just how intelligent dogs are and their willingness to provide comfort for those in emotional distress.
