Maggie, 'The Oldest Dog In The World' Has Died

Apr 04, 2019 by apost team

Normally, the oldest age dogs usually live to be is between 10 and 13 human years old. Most people would agree that reaching 13 or even 15 is an excellent and commendable feat for a healthy canine. Maggie, a beautiful Australian Kelpie, whose breed is known to live an average of 12 to 15 years, far surpassed all expectations and passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 30 human years old.

Incredibly, that’s about 210 in dog years!

Maggie spent most of her joyful and active life on a farm with her owner, Brian. Although he does not have official documentation to prove her age, he claims that she lived to reach 30 human years old.

The previous canine lifespan record holder was 29 years old and passed away back in 1939.

Brian explained that Maggie was always a happy dog, loved living the farm life, and adored spending time with her human family.

She was always athletic and remained active until the very end.

She still patrolled the farm and took her daily walks around the neighborhood.

Maggie even still took time to growl playfully at the local cats; however, she had many feline friends as well.

Although deeply saddened, Brian is happy and relieved that Maggie did not suffer in her final days and was able to take her last few breaths comfortably and peacefully. It will be difficult of course, especially at first, to get used to not having her around, but he is immensely thankful for this amazing miracle of a long, full life.

He definitely realizes and appreciates how lucky they both are.

Maggie will always be remembered by those who loved her, and even those who never knew her.

There were many public tributes made to honor her rich and full life.

She will be forever immortalized as winning the title of the World’s Oldest Dog at 30. We are ecstatic about Maggie’s phenomenal world record; however, it would be fantastic for another lucky dog to achieve this miracle as well.

Proper care, ample exercise, healthy diet, routine medical exams, and other important factors play a huge role in longevity. We hope that pet owners provide their pets with the best lives possible.
