Halloween comes off as a uniquely American holiday, but its popularity spread to other parts of the world thanks to pop culture. John Carpenter's 1978 hit film Halloween indeed helped.

Right now, people all over the world celebrate All Hallow's Eve. Halloween's popularity grew in the Philippines, and trick-or-treating became a tradition along with other October 31 festivities. Back in 2018, one young lady appeared in a costume that shocked many people. The costume featured a headless lady carrying her own head on a plate!

The way to make such a costume requires a bit of skill. Essentially, the costume is much larger than the person wearing it. The young girl puts her head through a sleeve above the plate, and the costume extends with false shoulders and an upper torso. The resultant costume becomes an optical illusion that looks quite real – it's no wonder that the costume captured Time Magazine's attention.

Maya, the young girl wearing the costume was only two-years-old in 2018, and she probably doesn't and won't remember all the details of this year's Halloween as she grows up. At least she can look at the video of her appearance as the headless girl.

In an interview with Coconuts Manila, Maya's mother created the costume, and she noted that the materials are ones you could buy anywhere. You could even find them inside your house already. Contrary to what many people believe, elaborate and costly materials aren't necessary to make outstanding costumes.

Maya's mom posted the video to Facebook, where over 300,000 people shared it – that's an impressive figure for an even more impressive Halloween costume.

Do you have friends and family members who love Halloween? If so, be sure to tell them about this incredible costume, it will make them feel both shocked and impressed for sure!
