Luke Combs Breaks Down At Invitation To Join The Grand Ole Opry

Tuesday was an emotional night for country singer Luke Combs. After being an invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, a prestigious honor in country music, Luke was brought to tears. 

Luke Combs was speechless after Chris Janson, Craig Morgan and John Conlee asked him to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry. Combs covered his face and broke down crying as the crowd stood up in cheers and applause. Being accpeted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry is a highly prestigious honor in country music. The Grand Ole Opry located in Nashville, Tennessee began as a radio broadcast back in 1925 it has since today become country music's most famous stage according to its website

The Grand Ole Opry states that "every year, hundreds of thousands of people make pilgrimages across town or around the world to the Grand Ole Opry to see the show live. Millions more tune in to Opry broadcasts." As a member of the Opry you are part of a very exclusive club made up of only 67 artists, famous singers like Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban are all members. 

It's no wonder Luke was at a loss for words when he was invited to join. Talking to Rolling Stone Country Combs said, "To me, it's the pinnacle of achievement in the genre, the sold-out shows are unbelievable and the Number One songs are unbelievable, but this is Number One career stuff -- this and getting engaged are one and two."

Combs remembers the first time he played at the Opry in 2016. “That night I said, ‘That’s it, I’m becoming a part of this, whatever it takes." Well, Luke, you've definitely achieved what you set out to do! Congrats on this awesome honor.
