Losing Weight at 50 - Never Have Those Stubborn Rolls Again

Sep 25, 2018 by apost team

Many women find that the older they get, the harder it becomes to lose weight. The years have passed by without a single trace of change, and your waist is no longer as slim as it once was. Also, your weight may fluctuate much more and is truly anything but stable. Don't worry - we will tell you how you can stimulate fat burning!

Unfortunately, the idea of eternal youth is really just a dream, because sooner or later the aging process becomes noticeable in everyone. Already at the age of 30, the body begins to reduce valuable muscle mass, which means that our bodies are less resilient. We get colder faster, and fatty layers begin building up, because less muscle mass also means less energy consumption. The body then tends to become overweight, which is not harmful to a certain extent, but can quickly become a problem. If you have observed this yourself, then you have different possibilities to boost your fat burning and to lose some pounds.

What is happening in your body

At the age of 50, things change in your body. Estrogen, the female sex hormone, is produced less, and the male hormones begin being produced more. This can lead to an increase in the amount of fat around your stomach and less so in your legs and hips. Due to the extreme hormonal changes your body undergoes, the proportion of muscle mass to fat tissue also changes. Even if you are the same weight as you were when you were 30, you will have much more fatty tissue. That makes losing weight significantly more difficult.

Movement is incredibly important

The most important thing to do in order to reduce your body fat is movement. Physical activity is particularly important during menopause when your body's hormonal balance changes and everything has to rebalance itself. You don't have to endure difficult workouts and push yourself into demanding sports. Try to find something that benefits your health and gives you pleasure.

Sports such as swimming and cycling are very suitable for reducing fat in the long term. Build movement into your everyday life by climbing stairs, walking to work, or taking a walk on the weekends. In order to increase your basic energy consumption, you should begin lifting weights and working your muscles more. If you build muscle mass, your body consumes more energy at any given time during the day. It doesn't matter if you're lounging in front of the TV or sleeping. Doing this will build your muscles and also help you burn fat at the same time!

Nutrition as a second pillar

Unfortunately, losing weight without a healthy and balanced diet doesn't work well. Therefore, you should change your diet to truly nourish yourself for the sake of your body. Of course, you don't have to diet for the rest of your life. You can still go out with friends and eat something unhealthy. If you want to stimulate your fat burning overnight, it helps to eat fewer carbohydrates at dinner. Instead, eat lean meat proteins and healthy fats, like olive oil. Even throughout the day, a low-carb diet is a real fat killer and can help you lose some weight.
