America's Sweetheart and comedy legend Betty White passed away less than three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. The news was reported by People Magazine, quoting her agent Jeff Witjas.

"Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever," Betty White's agent and close friend Jeff Witjas told People in a statement. "I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again."

Betty White was one of the most beloved actresses of all time. Over the long course of her career, she received plenty of awards and recognition for all of her hard work and immense talents. At 99 years old, White showed no signs of slowing down, but it was more than just her talent that made her such a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.

The actress has been working since the late 1930s and started receiving great recognition during the 1950s. By the time it had come around to be the 1980s, White was already a household name and a regular on sitcoms thanks to her witty nature and undeniable talent.

Her beautiful personality and bold voice have helped carry White through the challenging times of working in the entertainment industry and have also helped make her a favorite with fans and critics alike. The star has never shied away from doing what's right and making her voice heard.

Read on to see some of the memorable things America's Sweetheart has said over the years.

  1. “It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver.”

  2. “Don't try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won't live long enough to find out about, but I'm still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, 'I'm going to be 30 — oh, what am I going to do?' Well, use that decade! Use them all!”

  3. “You can always tell about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal.”

  4. “Animals don't lie. Animals don't criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do.”

  5. “I may be a senior, but so what? I'm still hot.”

It's no surprise that these quotes are full of wisdom — not to mention a bit of classic Betty White humor — as the actress lived to see nearly a century.

In celebration of her long life, White was set to release a film called "Betty White: 100 Years Young – a Birthday Celebration." It was to be a one-day-only special event that could be viewed in theaters across the country. The movie was created by Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein. White said to CNN about the event, "Who doesn't love a party?!? This one is gonna be GREAT!"

There were even guest appearances confirmed from Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Lin Manuel- Miranda, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Jay Leno, Carol Burnett and many more celebrities that White got to know over her long and successful life.

PEOPLE has since reported that the movie is set to air despite White's unfortunate passing two weeks before her 100th birthday. The producers of the celebratory movie, Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein, wrote in a statement given to PEOPLE:

"Our hearts mourn today with the passing of Betty White. During the many years we worked with her, we developed a great love and admiration for Betty as a person, and as an accomplished entertainer. We are thankful for the many decades of delight she brought to everyone. Betty always said she was the 'luckiest broad on two feet' to have had a career as long as she did. And honestly, we were the lucky ones to have had her for so long."

"We will go forward with our plans to show the film on January 17 in hopes our film will provide a way for all who loved her to celebrate her life — and experience what made her such a national treasure."

Viewers will be able to re-experience some of White's most iconic moments from "The Golden Girls," "Hot in Cleveland," "The Proposal" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

The film star will also share behind-the-scenes stories from her many years as a performer. It is said that the special film will reveal a lost episode from White's very first sitcom as well. CNN also reports that the movie honors White for being the first woman to produce a national TV show and the first woman to receive an Emmy nomination. Although planned as a celebration for the star's long life, it will now hopefully serve as a fitting memorial for one of the greats in show business.
