Looking Back At The Strong Bond Princess Diana Had With Her Two Boys Through Family Photographs

Princess Diana lost her life in a tragic car accident on August 31, 1997, and from that day on the world changed. The public still mourns the loss of the “People’s Princess,” and for two boys, it will be a lifelong process. Princess Diana showered her two sons William and Harry with love from the day they were born and their bond is apparent in these family photos.

Princess Diana married Prince Charles in a lavish wedding at the young age of 20, as stated in ThoughtCo. From then on she was a public figure and did so much to use her stature for the good of others. Even after their divorce, she remained a humanitarian and champion for causes such as the landmine and AIDS crises. She worked tirelessly for those in need but she still put her boys first.

A short documentary was released in 2017 entitled “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy” where her sons opened up about the fun times they had with Diana. In an article about the doc in The Telegraph, Harry recalls her infectious laugh and the way she would sneak sweets into their socks, while Prince William said:

“One of her mottos to me was: ‘you can be as naughty as you want, just don’t get caught.’”

The boys talk about the great love she had for them that they could feel on the other side of a room, and how she made it evident through all-encompassing hugs.

“She would just engulf you and squeeze you as tight as possible,” Harry said in the documentary. “Even talking about it now I can feel the hugs that she used to give us and I miss that. I miss that feeling, I miss that part of a family, I miss having that mother to be able to give you those hugs and give you that compassion that I think everybody needs.”

Her legacy carries on to the next generation of her family since both Harry and William feel the need to take her memory on to their children. Harry cheekily remarked that he would dress his kids just like she dressed them, and William said she would be a “nightmare grandmother.”

Clearly the bond between mother and sons has not diminished after 22 years or after death. Harry and William know that they are blessed to have had the wonderfully kind, beautiful, and fun Princess Diana for a mother in the years that they were with her, and she would be proud of the men that they have become.

Rest in peace Princess Diana. Be sure to pass this article on to those who also miss her presence.
