Little Orphaned Pony Believes Teddy Bear Is Its Mom And Viewers Are Gonna Burst Into Tears

Back in 2013, a then 1-week-old foal named Breeze made headlines because he cuddled and slept with a jumbo teddy bear.

Breeze the bay pony was found by a farmer on May 24, 2013, abandoned at Dartmoor National Park in the U.K. just a few hours after his birth. Unable to find his mother, the tiny foundling was stumbling hopelessly around the hillside trying to suckle mares. By the time rescuers from a local equine sanctuary had arrived to help, Breeze had collapsed in a state of severe shock and dehydration.

According to TODAY, as per a statement on The Mare and Foal Sanctuary’s website, rescuers had transported the sick and scared animal to the sanctuary for horses located in Devon, England.

Thankfully, the pony was able to be nursed back to a healthy condition and was given antibiotics to treat his illness. After he was feeling better, the rescuers decided to name the cute pony Breeze.

A week after he was rescued, he was feeling much better. But something was still missing and the pony was very depressed.

If you’re like most people, sadness as a child for you was often cured with toys and stuffed animals. We’re able to sleep with them to comfort us, and they make loneliness and separation anxiety from our parents much more tolerable.

As it turns out, the rescuers discovered that animals have a love for stuffed animals as well! To comfort the abandoned pony, the people that rescued him decided to gift him a large teddy bear to try to lift his spirits.

Much to their surprise, Breeze quickly took a liking to his stuffed toy and treated it with kindness and love like he would his own mother or siblings.

Breeze loved to snuggle up in the lap of the stuffed animal, and he often took naps with the bear which undoubtedly comforted him and made him feel less alone. Thankfully, he was able to use this bear as a tool to help him relax and become comfortable in his new surroundings. After spending time at the sanctuary, the rescuers noted that Breeze’s condition had seriously improved, and he had become a happy and active little pony, as you'll see in this interview with one of Breeze's caregivers in 2013.

Since then, Inside Edition gave a short update on Breeze's life in 2016, three years after his rescue in 2013. According to the video, Breeze has long since separated from his stuffed animal friend because now Breeze is part of his own herd at the Mare & Foal Sanctuary in Devon, England. With that said, the two briefly reunited in 2016, as Inside Edition reports.
