Cancer is tragic, but it always hurts a little bit more when it's an innocent child who has to suffer. Little Sophia, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis, refuses to let her spirits down during her fight. Even though she is gravely ill, Sophia still has enough zest for life to dance. She had a wonderful surprise in store when her doctor decided to bring in his ukulele for her.

It truly doesn't take a lot to make a child happy, even when they are fighting cancer. Sophia has spent most of her time in the pediatric oncology ward of the Hospital das Clínicas of Ribeirao Preto in Sao Paulo, Brazil since she was diagnosed with cancer. Anyone who has even been inside a hospital knows it can be a depressing place.

Sophia has a very special doctor taking care of her, though. Dr. Martin brought his ukulele into work one day to bring some cheer into Sophia's life.

Once she heard the tunes, she immediately started dancing and looking for her doctor.

After Dr. Martin realized how much Sophia was enjoying the music, he decided to sing a song dedicated specially to her. Although this kind act only took a few minutes out of his day, this is a memory that is sure to keep Sophia fighting in good spirits.

Doctors and nurses who keep us alive are some of the most under-appreciated people. They have to run on superhuman levels of sleep and food to take care of their patients. Even though they are exhausted, there are many doctors just like Sophia who go above and beyond their job requirements.

Next time you see a doctor or nurse, be sure to thank them for all that they do!
